Well here's an unexpected bonus - our new eMediaCMS website has been online for less than a month, and we've already reached Google's Page 1 listing for the following search terms:

• google: php mysql open source order form (Listing #2 today on page 1!)
• google: password protected photo gallery and ordering system (another Page 1!)

Honestly we haven't really tried to do a lot of SEO work to this site yet - this is just a true and unbiased testament to the strong built-in search engine optimization capabilities of eMediaCMS. We're pleasantly surprised!

While we're on the subject of SEO, let me tell you a quick story. I've change the names of the people and companies - but this is a true story. Back around 2004 when we were really trying to sell Celestia (former name of eMediaCMS when it was a commercial product), I approached a friend of mine whose father owned a line of sunglasses. We asked him if we could redo his site in Celestia - he respectfully declined as he was happy with his web presence - but he did allow us to use his existing site and content as a demo site for the product.

About six months later, this was all done and forgotten. We had a really cool demo site online, and were very happy with how it looked. We showed it off as much as we could... Then the phone rang. The lawyer from CoolSunglassConcepts demanded to know who we were, why we had their OLD content online on one of our websites which was clearly a copyright violation, and why and how our site was ranking higher than theirs for the same search terms!!!

While I tried to explain to this lawyer that we had the permission of the CEO of the company, we respectfully took the site down. After all it was out of date <grin>.
