Celestia is a web-based software package that can be run on a dedicated or shared hosting account. Celestia has been tested on both the Windows IIS and Unix/Linux based Apache web servers. Most major hosting providers support all of the required software components listed below. The webserver on which Celestia Content Management is installed must have the following technologies accessible by Celestia:

• PHP 4.3.2 or higher: the most popular open source programming language and the language in which Celestia is written
• MySQL 3.23 or higher: the most popular open source relational database and the foundation of the Celestia software
• Zend Optimizer 2.5.3 or higher: Required only to run the supplied Installer.

Celestia is now fully Open Source under the Apache Software License. You have full access to ALL of the PHP code for your CMS based website. Use the source to just look under the hood or even learn the internals to build and publish your own modules.
